So who's running this joint?

We've got a crack team of staff here in Birmingham now, so we thought it might be nice for you to learn their names and a little bit about their background.

First up is Our General Manager - Maria Darlington.

Maria is a Depot Veteran!

After a successful period at the Depot Manchester, where she started as a coach, and worked her way up to assistant manager. Maria has moved base to the West Midlands to run our newest centre - The Climbing Depot Birmingham.

Maria is a keen climber and boulderer who loves to see people develop and progress in all walks of life, from customers climbing and improving, to coaches progressing and becoming more confident.

Prior to moving into the world of climbing full time, Maria worked as a primary school teacher, an important skill when dealing with some of the staff!

Being such an organised person Maria loves lists, so here is her climbing list:

Favourite Crag: Roaches
Favourite Route: Valkyrie VS 4c
Favourite Bit of Gear: 5.10 Anasazi LV and Friction Labs high performance chalk
Other interests: languages (fluent in three and can get by in a couple more) and of course, Cross Fit

Assistant Manager - Harry Woodford

Harry provides a valuable insight into the Birmingham Climbing scene - having worked at and used many of the centres across the West Midlands.

His first experience of climbing was an armed forces lead climbing competition.

"I was only entered due to winning a pull up competition and there was a space that needed filling"

He's been hooked ever since.

Favorite Climb - "Going down on an elephant" - Wales. Purely for the name and the picturesque location.
Favorite Climbing Area - Magic Wood, Font or North Wales
Other hobbies include escaping the city for van life adventures, surfing, cycling and hiking.

Our Shop Manager - Ros Beveridge

You always need a proper gear addict to run a shop - and Ros is ours!

She got into climbing at around the age of 8 when her Dad started taking her to a centre in deepest, darkest Wales where they would climb for a whole day every couple of months. Eventually it all rubbed off, and now she can't get enough of the sport.

Favourite climb: The Nose 6b, Churnet Valley
Favourite gear: Organic Pads and Friction Labs Secret Stuff (the best gear in my Armoury!)
Favourite Climbing Area: Churnet Valley
Other interests: I'm a bit of a Lego fanatic
