Schools cup 2019 Results v3

We would like to say a huge well done to all the participants in this year’s Schools Cup. This year saw the highest number of competitors to date with 150 children from 13 different schools. The attitude and behaviour of all competitors was exemplary and lead to a very smooth and successful competition. We would like to thank all the participants for this and for the teachers who helped make the competition run so smoothly.

The format of this year’s competition was 25 problems from V0-V7 set throughout the entire centre. The participants had 3 hours to get around as many as possible with 3 goes on each problem. Team work is key in the competition with scores for the team going on to decide who takes home the cup. Yet again this year we saw teamwork of the highest level with teams cheering each other up problems and helping each other with beta.

The Secondary School cup was this year won by Benton Park School who took a commanding victory of 1229 over second placed Crossley Heath School with 1061. Woodhouse Grove School just missed out on second by 30 points with 1031.

With an increasingly number of Primary Schools competing we have now introduced a Primary Schools Cup. This year this went to Calverley C of E Primary School who pipped Cottingley Village Primary School to the title by just 28 points.

We not only have the Schools Cup on offer, but every child enters in their own key stage for the individual competition. As always these were very close, and we would like to say a big well done for some fantastic individual scores this year.

A full breakdown of all scores is available here.

The Depot Schools Cup is aimed at schools in the Yorkshire area. Whether you have used the centre before or not does not matter and the main aim of the competition is to get children into the centre to experience a climbing competition. We love holding this annual competition and are always looking for more teams to come along. If you or someone you know may be interested in next year’s competition, then please feel free to contact us.
